The tamahagane Paper Crane Katana (model SH2294) represents the pinnacle of Hanwei sword-smithing artistry. Forged from real Tamahagane, this katana employs traditional kobuse construction — layered, folded steel over a softer core — to produce exceptional hada (visible grain) and a vibrant hamon (temper line). The result is not only visually stunning but also highly functional: a hard, sharp edge balanced by resilience and shock absorption.

Every detail evokes the spirit of Japanese theater. The tsuba (guard), fuchi/kashira (collar and pommel), and menuki (ornamental grip accents) are decorated with origami paper-crane motifs, stippled “Nanako” backgrounds, and theatrical masks. The lacquered saya (scabbard) houses a kozuka (mini knife) adorned with musical-instrument motifs from the stage, and all is tied together with a hand-woven silk sageo cord, meticulously crafted on a loom.
